Turn Your Passion Into Profit

Supplemental Series Intro 5/2/2018

This will be a supplemental publication or series to augment the "Dog Daycare Start-Up Manual". When I originally conceived the manual and posted it online, I had a simple goal. To prevent others from making the same entry level mistakes I had made and allow those that might be interested in entering the pet services industry to do so with a realistic no frills guide as to what is needed to succeed, what is expected of them and what they could expect in return.

I never dreamed that the information I presented would become so popular that in just a few years the manual would find itself downloaded thousands of times by individuals looking to become their own boss doing what they love. Taking that demand into account and the fact that I been so busy over these last few years doing what I love, (teaching others, running the facility and working with dogs) I have made very little progress in the form of a major overhaul to the manual since its inception.

I feel that now is a good time to not necessarily rewrite the manual so much as to add onto it some of my experiences in this industry over the past decade. The lack of updates were not a by-product of complacently or laziness on my part so much as they were due to the fact that sound management principles and the fundamentals of running a pet care facility rarely go out of date. As a result the manual in original form has stayed relevant since its creation with little need for revision save some changes in regards to marketing as a result of the birth of social media which I will cover here. That being said the following series will delve deeply into the many different facets and sub businesses that are required to run a truly successful pet care facility.
