Borate is Poisonous To Pets
Name: Borate
Toxin: Borate, Boric Acid, and Boron.
Symptoms: Fever, lethargy, blue green vomit, drooling, abdominal pain, diarrhea, blisters, collapse, depression , ataxia, hyperesthesia, muscle weakness, sloughing of the skin, tremors, seizures, blood in the urine, low urine production, coma, and death.
Additional Information: Borate is not stored in the body like many other poisons; the body tries to naturally eliminate it causing major damage to the kidneys. Borate can be found in laundry detergent, cleaners, preservatives, some insecticides, Ant and Roach baits, welding flux, contact lens solutions and other products.
First Aid: Induce vomiting if ingested and use activated charcoal slurry, seek veterinary attention. If on the skin, thoroughly wash the pet with warm soapy water and dry thoroughly. Ensure that you wear protective clothing/gloves to prevent yourself from becoming exposed.
